When I first came here (this past march)I explained that I was a mother of a Meth addict. She came to live with my husband and I and all went well until she went to work, and started meeting other people. She made friends with all the wrong people to stay sober.
I have her 7 month old daughter and was talking to her about visitation. She said she would take a home drug test anytime I wanted to give her one.
My questions are....how accurate are they?
Will results show me if she got high 4 days before I gave it to her or longer?
Would it indicate to me if she was living in a home where others were smoking? I know her brother smokes (crystal meth?), and she spends a lot of time there.
What would happen if the baby went into a home where it was smoked when she (the baby) was not there, but her clothes, blankets and toys were kept there? She would be chewing on everything in the home as she is teething and at 7 months puts everything she picks up in her mouth.
Would the baby somehow get the residue off these articles and into her system?
If so would the amount of the drug in her (the baby) system be detectable with a home kit?
I need these answers before I agree to let her mother have visitation anywhere but my home. I'm not 100% sure that she us using again, so I don't want to invoice Social Services until I know. I don't have legal custody of the baby but her mothers leaves her with me and visits or goes shopping, out to eat, etc...with us.
I thank everyone in advance for their WISDOM.
