He says he hates meth and hates that it made him go into these rages and that he has zero desire to ever do it again. He did agree to go to outpatient rehab or possibly inpatient rehab for a week or so. How do I find a place for him. We live in San Jose CA. He also said that I can give him a random hair folicle test whenever I want. He really seems like he is trying to prove himself to me, which is awesome. We are still separated and going to sell the house and I am still going to get my own place, but we have decided to put the divorce on hold for now. One step at a time...

Get on the internet and do a google search. Go to an NA meeting and get info from members. Don't give up until you find what you're looking for. Much luck to you and John, Peace lady, Chris

The obsession to use is far to great to say "never again". Swearing off is only deluding ourselves. A "week or so" of inpatient/outpaitient is'nt enough to even de-tox... that IS absurd! An honest drug and alcohol assessment would be in order. We do'nt know what we need as we begin to contemplate recovery... and our self diagnosis and do it yourself recovery plans are typically a deluded waste of time. When he agrees to do WHATEVER it takes, you can expect to see progress. He does'nt have a clue yet just what it DOES take! He nees to close his mouth and open his ears. Ignore any and all promises, it's idle chatter. You'll SEE the progress if/when it happens.

"A week or so of inpatient rehab" This would be totally ridiculous, a minimum of three months would be my suggestion! I dont know about anyone else but through working a rigorous program of recovery the obsession to use leaves in about 6 months to a year. He needs to see an alcohol and drug counselor and have a thorough assessment before a proper diagnosis can be made. Remember his best thinking got him to where he is today. He needs to let someone else think for him for now.

He used for about 11 days; smoking 3-4 times daily (is this a lot?). And then quit. Was it easier for him since he used for such a short amout of time? This is the part of the drug that I don't understand. Does using for 11 days make you an addict?

And then quit. Sabino, I'd say that is just a part of the whole truth. Looking back ,when did you first notice changes? In time spent away from home, unexplained absences or times when your eyebrows raised - when did the evasiveness start- the happy happy ? The remodeling, painting, whatever projects? Go go go? Sleeping just a little and yet still ready to do whatever needing done- or at least starting it then moving onto something else? Go time frame- what was happening the last months of pregnancy, the birth, the months that way - look back and see.Look for happy happy happy. This is an awful lot of damage for JUST 11 days. JMO. and 2 weeks is a waste of time- I agree, 3 months/12 weeks is a good start - if he is being honest. As long as the BS continues, there is no rehab time long enough.
