HOW LONG DOES METH STAY IN YOUR SYSTEM

Posts: 13 Jun 19 09 6:43 PM Reply Quote More My Recent Posts	I need to know how long meth stays in your system. My hubby admitted that he used on June 6th and only used a little that day. He bought it Wed and used until it was gone, so Wed 3rd, Thur 4th, Fri 5th, and Sat 6th. I gave him a urine drug screen tonight (June 19th), 15 days later and he failed!!! Of course he SWEARS that he has not used since the 6th. I have never used meth so I have no idea, all I know is what I read and that is that it only stays in your urine for 3-4 days. Has anyone ever tested positive 14 days after use????? PLEASE HELP??

The better question would be: What now? Does he want to quit? Is he interested in making changes, or is he telling you just what you want to hear? What are YOU planning to do? I'm sure in your heart of heart, you know what's going on. And why ARE YOU testing him? the whole thing sounds pretty toxic. Get some help for yourself. Alanon or Naranon. He's obviously not been trustworthy. Not that I have any room to judge him. I would've been lying my a** off, too, I'm sure. I would've claimed I'd been taking pseudofed and it was a false positive. Good luck! I hope things work out for you both.

Posts: 13 Jun 21 09 7:42 PM Reply Quote More My Recent Posts	It hasn't been 114 days, it's been 14...didn't know if you read my post wrong or typed your response wrong. Regardless, I know that 14 days is too long and do not believe that he hasn't used. I am not sure what I am going to do at this point, I think I am just sitting back and waiting for all of this to sink in. I am sure to most I seem really stupid and many have said to just leave him; however, when you really love someone it's just not that easy. Unlike many meth addicts he is home every night, never left home and not came back for days and he is a wonderful father. At no point has he missed any important event in our daughters life (yet). I am aware that should he continue down this road he is on these things are sure to happen, when/if they do I will for sure know it is time for me to leave him. I pray every single day that God will give me the strength to leave should he fail another drug screen but who knows, I never would have thought I would have stayed with a man that every failed the first one. It is so true that this is a family illness, it really has taken it's toll on our family, not just him!! Thanks so much for your responses, this helps me more than anything else.

No. What you read the first time is correct. 3-4 days at the most (you can even flush it out your system faster). A blood test would detect it until a little over a week. So will ANYTHING that had sudafed or ephedra in it....cold medicines and diet pills, mostly, although few have ephedra anymore. That was always gonna be my excuse if I got tested for some reason....sudafed. I didn't know about benedryl doing it, but I'm sure it and many other things could.

When I got out, I bought meth test strips and gave them to my parents so they could test me at any time. I failed the first two days after I was out, probably because I had so much in my system. But the bottom line is this: 14 days is far long enough for him to be testing negative. It doesn't matter what kinds of things could be causing a false positive. You could find a zillion ways to try to tell yourself that what you know is true may or may not be. TRUST YOUR INSTINCT. Peolple tend not to do that enough in general, and especially when we don't want to know what we already know. As for what you should do now...what did you say you would do if he ever used again? I'm getting the feeling it was discussed, otherwise, why would you be testing him? Above all, take care of yourself and don't second guess yourself. Kim www.thenext24.blogspot.com

I went to your blog and now find myself eager for your next post. I found out almost a year ago that my husband was using meth, I was in shock!! I had NO IDEA!!! Since catching him the first time I have now caught him 7 more times (today he failed his 7th urine drug screen for me). I knew NOTHING at all about meth and immediately turned to the internet to find out as much as I possible could about this drug. Of all the places I have gone KCI has by far been the most helpful. The people I have met here and the information given to me has been more than helpful. In the beginning it was really hard to hear what people had to say, I was really good at convincing myself that "he" was different than everyone else and he was going to stop because he told me he was....YEAH RIGHT!!! Because of the wonderful people (like yourself) I have finally taken off my rose colored glasses and excepted the fact that I cannot and will not be able to stop him from using. This kills me because we have a 17 month old daughter that simply adores her Daddy, I didn't want this to tear our family apart; however, it has. I have been working on myself and trying really hard to get myself together. I have made excuse after excuse as to why I can't leave him and now I have ran out of excuses. Today is the day that I will leave. My husband has an 11 year old son that has been here visiting us for 2 weeks, he will be here until Sunday evening so I will stay until he leaves. Sunday night after taking him back to his mother I will come home and pack mine and my daughters clothes and go stay at my Mother's house (she knows NOTHING about him using meth, she would die) for a week. I will take the week at my Moms to figure out my next move (do I make him leave our home or do I leave). Sorry for all of this info...guess I just needed to get this off my chest. I will stop here before I end up with pages of information that you nor anyone wants to hear. I just wanted to thank you for your advice and blog, keep it up!! Bridget
