I thought I would start one thread to post about my daily ups and downs in recovery - I will post daily even if I relapse but hopefully I can move forward and
get on with my recovery from this drug as well as my mental and emotional issues. I saw the Cardiologist today and had a full work up on my heart and
vascular system and although I have been experiencing chest pains I am told good news that my heart is in good condition and I despite years of stimulant abuse
have nothing to be concerned about - the doctor told me that this is NOT a free pass to go use again and he knows it is hard to quit but instead it is
something to thank my lucky stars for and try to stay clean. So, after that appointment I felt a real sense of gratitude and thanked God as I breathed in the
beautiful SF morning. Now I just watched 24 and felt some natural pleasure there and am off to a CMA meeting. I had an urge to use last night and was looking
again but know that Crystal and Me can no longer be together and I need to fight those cravings and try to move forward - Meth has stolen the last 3 + years
of my life so why let it take anymore ... recovery will not be easy and my other issues sure play a part but I know that it IS possible and I am ready for
something different and better . Let's see if I can not just talk recovery but actually DO it this time ...

Had a great CMA meeting despite the queen who was tweaking and tried to get in my pants ... I possibly found a sponsor though and got to pet two very lovable
dogs which always makes me happy . Thanks Know, DHF , and of course Deb ... The good thing is that I do not have to stay clean and sober for the rest of my
life ... just today ; which takes some of the pressure off.

That is cool Tender , one of the few joys that meth DID NOT destroy is how when I see a dog I just light up like a Christmas tree. I want a dog so bad but
starting in May I will be volunteering at an animal shelter which will be cool.

Animals are awesome, they cue in to our needs sometimes at exactly the right times, don't they?? My roommates cat, who was not cuddly AT ALL, came and sat
in my lap, for the very first time ever, on the night before my wedding day, when I was SUPER nervous. Never did it before or after. She'd let me pet her,
but never hopped in my lap.
Volunteering at an animal shelter, that sounds like such an awesome thing to do!!! For yourself, and for giving OF yourself. Great idea, Robby!!! Sounds perfect for you!! They'll be lucky to have you, and you'll be lucky to have something that feeds your soul that way, too! |

Frustrating day - My SSI check came in but was cut in half and I do not see how I will get through the month , and I have been depressed and in bed but will
NOT drink or use over it . I know that drinking or using will not fix my situation. Just watching some TV online and trying to see that somehow things will
turn around and be OK. Recreating my life will take some time but little by little I know I can possible do it . So for TODAY things may look down but I will
stay sober and realize that there are some things I can control and some things I cannot - I am powerless over how much SSI gives me , powerless over if I
sleep outside or inside but there is one thing I do have power over and that is if I stay sober or stuff my feelings .. TODAY I choose to stay sober.
For what it's worth today is day 10 off of drugs and alcohol.

You made it through the first of the month without using or bolting! Maybe that reduced check is actually HELPING YOU focus on what needs fixin! Maybe it's
a blessing in disguise.
