Many of you will remember me from last year. My daughter is a recovering ( I hope) meth addict. She had been through treatment 4 times. Last year she had an
open CPS case (Child protective service) and almost lost custody of her daughter. Thats closed now as she completed treatment again and passed all their UAs
for a year.
My question is, she is getting really thin again. She has probably lost 30 lbs over this last year. ( Her history is to emotionaly eat) She says its stress from money problems, having hard time finding a job right now. I don't see the normal signs such as a messy house, unkempt appearence, sleeping for days, moody, pawning her things, etc from use and the crash. I talk to her almost every day. She is a very loving and thoughtful mother the best I can tell. Still, I'm worried about her and about my grandchild. I am a drug counselor but still, never having used that drug myself, I know I can be fooled without UAs.
Her normal method of use is to slam. Maybe she's trying to use "just enough" to stay thin. Maybe she's trying to smoke it and not slam to control her use. Of course this won't last long. .....or maybe this is just my old fear coming up to bite me. She sure is thin. She goes to an occassional meeting (she says) but no sponsor.
I know there is nothing I can do to make her quit if she has relapsed. I can only interceed if my grandchild is in danger like I did before .
Any feedback from anyone recovering would be greatly welcomed.
Thanks and Happy Thanksgiving
her dad
