Two men admitted to a federal judge today that they conspired to cook and distribute meth and that their operation created a dangerous situation that led to a woman's death.
John D. Williams, 29, and Benjamin T. Clarkson, 38, each pleaded guilty to one count of conspiracy to manufacture and distribute methamphetamine and one count of creating a substantial risk of harm to human life while manufacturing the drug.
According to court documents, 24-year-old Carly E. Morris of Liberty was visiting the men in their Kansas City home when she took a drink of what she thought was a soft drink, but it was actually diluted lye - used in the making of meth - from an unmarked container. She died 10 days later, on Oct. 22, 2007.
In exchange for their plea agreements, several lesser charges against Williams and Clarkson were dropped.
They will be sentenced at a later date.
