Posts: 6433 (05/05/08 10:24:21) - Reply Quote More My Recent Posts Message Me Connection Blocking Invite Ignore User's Posts Report Post	I had a problem with some of the things that were said in a main page thread yesterday. I didn't say a word about it although I really wanted to make some comments. I sent PM's to the two senior Mods and GOT NO REPLY. They know I love them dearly and so I can only assume they are too busy to respond. Although both have posted this morning. But I still want to make some comments. I'm following the rules, right? But after 24 hours, isn't it OK, to bring it to the forum and state my opinion? How long must we wait before being able to post an opposing point of view?

Give or take .2 seconds, of course. SFJ, I got your PM, however I wanted to discuss it with the other mods first as I saw the post in a different way than you did. I apologize for not letting you know that in a reply PM. One of the best things about the mod team here is that we often discuss things as a team. Sometimes that means we don't take action immediately because discussions on the internet across many time zones take time. Personally, I'm still recovering from being part of a wedding this weekend.

After spending all that time at work, at that three hour business meeting, and what with the cooking and laundry and all that stuff... I'm sorry, j. Check your PM's, K? (PS: I was told "Go to Hell, you Twamp" by a patient with Hepatic encephalopathy on Sunday. Did you talk to her at all?)

Sadly, though, I have known her for about 13 years, and it has been hard to see the decline over the past few years. She was schizophrenic to begin with - so that plus hepatic encephalopathy has really taken her down. She used to be a happy yet really disorganized, delusional lady - but very nice and friendly. She lived with her mother her whole life, and mom allowed her to drink, and this is the end result. That being said, she is usually very lovable and friendly - but when she is in bad mood - LOOK OUT. "Twamp" is probably the nicest thing she coulda called me, because her vocabulary goes WAY beyond that when she's pissed off at you...

I always knew when it was time for him to be released... ...like when he would dump his green jello on his food because he didn't like the food, and had made a special request that they NEVER send green jello to his room Sorry Sfj, Didn't mean to hijack your thread here! Lady

Posts: 213 (05/07/08 21:48:27) Reply Quote More My Recent Posts Message Me Connection Blocking Invite Ignore User's Posts Report Post	Before my cousin Frank died from Hep complications, he went through that hepatic encephalopathy a lot. He'd start off with this lost look in his eyes, like he was confused and scared. I thought it was horrible to watch. Years after his death, I was diagnosed with Hep too. It's a lot different when you feel the confusion coming on because your liver isn't functioning properly anymore. It's actually scary to know you've forgotten tasks that were simple before falling ill and now have to focus harder to complete those same tasks. Too bad the brain doesn't go before the body does.... then we wouldn't have to be aware of the pitfalls of it all. Last Edited By: chrisgonz 05/08/08 01:47:59. Edited 1 times.

I know I'm not the only one in late stages of Hep as well. This is a real ailment as you know, being a nurse and all. Maybe you're immune to things now. I find it hard to see the humor as I suffer through the symptoms, and have seen these symptoms first hand prior to the death of a loved one. I appreciate your humor Pen, sometimes it hurts though. I know my posts have hurt you in the pass, when I put the coyote up and didn't finish my train of thought... you and others were very upset about it. Loosing a battle to Hep is a real dilema and I just think your humor is misplaced when it comes to your patients and using them as example on the board. Thought I'd share. Peace.
