I know I have never met you face to face But in my heart you have found a special place A place that is kept for special people like you A place for friends who are there through and through You make me laugh and smile too
I know sometimes you feel insecure
God loves you, He is always there
I thank Him for the day He sent you my way

It depends.
If you are an addict who has been brain washed into thinking that addiction is a disease, then yes, you think you are special. If you are an addict who knows that addiction is a behavior, then no, you don't think that you are special. |

I dont think we are special at all...I think we are people that for one reason or another made some bad choices, and are trying to work thru the repercussions
of those choices.
edited to add... no more special than anybody else

From a mom of a beautiful (addict) daughter, now in recovery...
Yes, I do think Addicts are "special." Everyone has their own specialness, as do addicts. I have to agree with Father John Martin that wrote: "Blessed Are The Addicts." He said when an addict is finally in longterm recovery, he has not known more sensitive people, many with a very "high calling." I myself have witnessed awesome addicts/extremely sensitive/intelligent people that can be an awesome thing when channeled properly. It seems when you experience the depths of spiritual hell, as many addicts have, and come back healthy and on top of it, you must view the world on levels that us normies cannot or will not ever be able to understand. In that sense, I think addicts are very special. Its like when my daughter tells me there is nobody she can really talk to and be fully understood about her "addict thoughts" except other addicts, which I totally respect. Special? Unique? I think so... JMHO! mlg |

mlg, I got to see Father Martin lecture at Wichita State University many years ago early in my recovery. It was an experience I will never forget
