I saw that on the news this morning when I was at the hospital with my son. He had a high fever but turned out to be okay. I agree with you. It's not addressing the real issue--the addiction. I have met several people with those breathilizer things installed in their cars and they have their CHILDREN blow in them because the car won't start if you breath into it with any alcohol on your breath. One women drank so much she would be drunk when she woke up in the morning and she would drive her child to school and then go to work where she was CNA at a nursing home. Crazy. She's dead now. Alcoholism killed her. Both of her son's are heroin/speed addicts. Sad. I heard now here in WA that they have upgraded their breathilizers and now have them in your house and at anytime they can request you breath into it for a reading and you have something like 5 minutes to give a reading or else it's considered positive for alcohol. My father is a binge drinker. A late stage alcoholic living off his inheritance because he can't work for long periods of time anymore. He often quits after only a couple weeks of working. He used to work for Boeing when he was still high functioning. He is sober right now and will be for anywhere from two weeks to a couple months. Then he either gets stressed out or he misses the drink and goes back for a bad binge for anywhere from one to three weeks. He's 57 and has health problems. He's a heavy smoker. I feel he's not going to live very long. Alcohol IS A DRUG and it caused so much pain just like drugs do. My father chose the bottle over his family and that's why my mom finally left him.
