Hello All,
I just read the posting by CRAPOLA about PTSD. As all know by now, my son is in Holistic treatment center. This is his third. He was involved in a drive by shooting when he was 18. His best friend was hit 3 times and a 15 year old neighbor kid sitting next to my son was killed. My son always felt he was the target. I talked to the center last night and they think he has PTSD and they think it is driving his addiction. Will the discovery of and the treatment of PTSD help improve his chances of staying clean?
Next question, my son wants to go to another city about 200 miles from home after treatment. He has what I think two none using friends there that will help him with somewhere to live while he gets a job. I have not discussed it with him because it's to soon, but his counselors and I both think he should be in a half way house for a few months to develop his support structure. I'm afraid he will be home alone while his friends work and could hurt his chances. He will have to have a room mate when he does get his own place and I think meeting someone with some of the same goals as his at a facility could lead to a good room mate relationship to help each others. Am I wrong? How can I best discuss it with him?
