Phoenix - I would guess that many professionals would not choose to spend their off duty time doing more of the same that they are getting paid for during their work hours...

One of the things they talk about in AA is that 12 step work is supposed to be non-professional - just one alkie helping another -

I have seen several people with many years of recovery go into counseling work and after awhile some quit going to meetings and participating in any recovery for themselves since they are working at it all day long - they think they do not need to do it for themselves anymore... and then (these again are ancedotal so I do not want to generalize to all ...) eventually a few people I know - they think they "know" enough to start drinking again - and before you know it 12 years of recovery are gone and 5 years later they are back in the rooms with even more "yets" completed... If they make it back at all. image

There may be professionals that read here nd never post since this is not that type of setting and they do not want to "tell" "us" how to do it.
