Time for an update.

The more things change, the more they stay the same. However, there are some weird twists of late, though not unexpected, I suppose.

Friday morning, my soon-to-be-ex accidentally called in the morning, and though the voices were muffled, I heard her and her boyfriend on the other end saying goodbye to each other at 6:25 a.m. as she was getting ready to come pick my kids up for school - she teaches at the school they attend & I teach at another school (it is just about the only contact they have with her). I could barely hear him, but I heard her tell him bye and "I love you, too." It didn't bother me as much as it would have weeks earlier - I now know she loves the bum, though I don't get it at all - but I could have done without it. It will serve as another piece of evidence come custody time, as will last night's episode.

Last night, her boyfriend calls me while my daughter and I are in the checkout line at Wal mart. He's telling me how he can't find my stbx, and I tell him I'll call him back when I'm done checking out. When I do, he tells me how they argued and she walked off into the night and apparently got lost and how I need to come help him find her. I laughed at him and told him the two of them were on their own. It was a strange call, to say the least. If she was in real danger, I would have probably acted differently, but it was a clear case of hillbilly drama. She was on foot and couldn't have gone too far, which she didn't. They were both drunk, of course. Seeing her today, I told her that I need to be left out of their issues, and this ridiculousness will show the judge the pitiful state that she's in.

These actions are direct results of destructive and addictive behavior, in my mind anyway.

Other than that, life is normal.

Thanks for being there,
Mike
