I've been a lot of things in my life, merchandise relocation engineer was just one of them. (isn't that a fancy way of saying trucker?)

Fact is, I've known truckers that are also attorneys, preachers aka reverends, doctors, geophysicists, engineers, artists, professors, a couple politicians, even a judge or two, and a few ex police.

For a long time trucking was the job people turned to when they didn't feel like they fit any where else. Lots of Vietnam vets ended up as truckers, I imagine a fair share of the more recent vets have also.

I've also known people who are addicted to one substance or another who are drivers...some became addicted, maybe, because they were drivers. Impossible schedules, late pickups, wrong addresses...gotta make miles to make money...

Imagine this. You have something, lots of somethings that need to be 1,000 miles away, you didn't get it until Wednesday, and they wanted it last Monday. Or you have several places to take things to and two places, 400 miles apart are scheduled with a 1 hour difference or even for the same time.

I also know that it's impossible to label any one profession, job, career, as being a source of dangerous people...usually it's the ones that seem so 'normal', so average that end up being the ones discovered...

Common interview for those who knew Ted Bundy, "He was a nice guy, articulate, friendly", the so called Black Widows, "PTA mom", 'So caring'...

We tend to identify people as the way we see them at the moment...sometimes I think we are afraid to look too deep or too far.
