Nice to single out a group and painting them all with the same brush.

I worked and lived with those guys for over 25 years. I met few who were sexual deviants, few who were drug users, and a whole lot of them that would give you the literal shirt off their back at first meeting.

As for prostitutes, we used to call them door knockers, lot lizards among other things. Girls who were sent out by their pimps into the truck stops, knocking on doors, drumming up 'business' from lonely men too long and too far from home...girls who weren't concerned if a woman answered the knock, 'Do you want a date?' was/is pretty universal.

Most of the men and women in those truck stops aren't any different than anyone else. They have homes, families, friends that they miss, they work hard to support those homes and families also. By the time a driver gets to the truck stop, he/she is looking for a meal, something to drink, a shower and maybe a little downtime to relax before hustling up the next load.

If you aren't a trucker, or riding with one for legitimate reasons, you have no reason to be 'in the back' or 'the lot' as some call it. The auto parking area is well lite, the windows for the fuel counter usually face it and the attendants pay attention. the restaurant windows also face the auto parking area. So no need to avoid a truck stop when traveling or just looking for a place to stop for coffee.

Oh and by the way, lots of drivers come up missing, truck and trailer stolen, freight gone, often over $1,000,000 between the three.

I can name at least two dozen towns where the locals are 'advertising wares' on the two way radio along one highway. The southeast states usually are the 'loudest', meaning with the most sellers and more variety. One would think the local police would catch on.

Where, may I ask, did this come from? Source please.
