There is pride then there is pride...one is loud and sometimes obnoxious, the other is quiet, dignified and actually a pretty good thing.

It's the pride one can hold when saying, 'No thank you, I no longer drink', or the pride of saying, 'It's been XX years since I have drank, and I'm on a roll'. That's pride in giving your word to yourself (and others) and keeping it.

That's good pride.

There is the pride in a job well done, whether it's brushing the dog, sweeping the floor or handing out candy on Halloween.

When your pride is actually giving and not taking, it's good. Good for you, good for others, just plain good.

It's being able to stand up, throw your shoulders back and say 'I made it!'
