Here's where things get dicey...we (loved ones) have to learn to allow them to do for themselves...it's a hard lesson, yet at the same time it's ok to acquire information that may assist them in doing so. The question is when is it too much information. At what point are we in 'overdrive'?

It may come down to access to resources. Often a computer and internet connection is the fastest way these days to collect info...sure most cell phones have web access, but how much access? Is it limited? How limited? Time also may be an issue, as well as a place to devote to one's own needs and pursuits.

Then there are the what ifs...these are kind of nice what ifs...like...what if the information I gathered for one person benefits other people? Is that me going 'overboard' for my loved one?

What if I am seeking information for someone else and I find something that may benefit my loved one? Should I share this information?

I don't think a listing of sober living homes is much of an 'over do'...now calling them for her...that's another story.
