Not all people are the same.
Therefore, not all Addicts will be the same.

Some "Normies" and some "Addicts" are more functioning in life than others.
And then some people (in general here) don't do so well in life and have various ISSUES.

I believe that many Addicts (of any type of drug, including alcohol) will do just about anything they have to get their fix.
That is the nature of the disease, or affliction if you will.

Then, there are some that stop at that crossroads and think about it.
They don't want to go against their morals, so they change.
For some, that is when recovery starts.
For many they just can't bring themselves to turn against their drug, even when they see the truth.

Some Addicts start out with nothing, i.e., kids.  They struggle harder to satisfy their habits.
Others, have successfully acquired "things" in life, i.e., houses, cars, people, etc. (perhaps starting addiction later in life).
Their fall, and what they have to lose gives a cushion to their addiction.  They are not as desperate.
