Thanks Cheryl!

The dad called my daughter to see his daughter. She said, he was the most clear he has been in a while. I said ok and I am going to talk with him. He showed up, my husband and I went outside. I explained, we are not trying to take his daughter away and only want her to be safe and cared for while he is getting it together.

He thanked us profusely and blah, blah, blahed some tweeker stuff about how hard life has been for him, he was meeting a guy about a house and wants to get it set up before he brings his daughter etc. We bit our tongues, I smiled and said, yes it has been hard for many people these days and especially for a single parent, she can stay here as long as it takes. I did tell him he needs to put his daughter 1st, instead of the girlfriend, the way he used. He said he was not seeing the girlfriend anymore because she was not good for him and she is selfish.

I asked him to sign a Power of Attorney and explained it simply gives me the authority care for her, get her teeth fixed; which is an emergency; medical and school. He agreed. He took her out to lunch. She was so happy when she came home. She said he's coming back tomorrow 12ish. I said great! I typed out a Power of Attorney for minor child and had it ready to go and have it notarized when he arrived.

We got up the next morning, took showers, ate breakfast, folded and put away laundry, I trimmed her hair etc. and we were ready at noon. Surprise! NOT...he didn't show. Wasn't answering his phone for anyone, not even his friends. He finally answered at about 2:30, told his daughter he would be there in an hour. The hour came and went. Then she called him again. I'm trying to get a ride to my car. Then she called later, I can't come now because there are checkpoints and my car doesn't have tags. Tomorrow... That was New Years Eve day. She was devastated! The poor thing waiting all day, and no show. It's HEARTBREAKING!

She stayed overnight at a friends house, my daughter took them to the movies on New Years Day, yesterday. No dad. He wasn't answering his phone...again. My daughter saw him pass by her on the road, when my daughter was alone. He saw her and sped off. She turned around and blocked him with her car. He actually reached under the seat to grab something, a crow bar, hammer or something. She walked up to the car and said, Really? You're reaching for something for me? I'm trying to help you. He was with the girlfriend. He said, you don't know what I've been dealing with. A whole bunch of stuff went down. She said all you have to do is meet my mom and have a Power of Attorney signed so she can get your daughter's teeth fixed. He said He doesn't have time.

At this point, all I can do is wait for another moment of clarity. I would rather do it outside the courts, as that is a lengthy process and time consuming. I'm sure he would too. I am hoping he goes to jail soon, as he has several pending cases and doesn't show for his court appearances. Like my daughter over two years ago, he needs to be caught to save his life and so I can get the Power of Attorney notarized. I hope that day comes soon.
