Oblivion,

You are doing great.   Stay in the present, my friend.

As tempting as it is to "build momentum" or "think of certain days as hurdles"....  I'd say -- steer clear of that.   And what it begins to happen, think 'perhaps' and then come back to the present.    See, those kind of momentum thoughts sometimes do a good job of making us feel empowered, but the truth is the real power is to stay right in the present.   Momentum thoughts are like all other thoughts -- they are whimsical and have a life of their own.  They can build you up for a few days -- but then they can come along and wreck everything they've built.     When you build your fortress of present moments (as you have the last 8 days) then no thought can tear you down.

I can remember, vividly, after having like 30 days of sobriety and really feeling the positive momentum, suddenly turning my car around and going to relapse...   For no reason...   It was like someone else had me on remote control.   Out of %*%@$*# nowhere.

The only defense against that is to stay right in the moment and say, "not right now"...   Just not now.

Addiction is SO sneaky.   When we are on a roll, it says things like "we're on a roll" because it knows it can really trip us up after that.

Don't use today my friend, and stay around in this life of ours.

Over time, if you keep coming back to the present, you will think of Meth less and less...

Like an ex-girlfriend you used to love and thought you couldn't live without.

Less and less -- THAT is the goal.   Not so much "got this beat" or "can't do it"...  Those are all pronouncements about the future.

And the future is a product of our imagination.   It can get really scary out there.   It can make us use.

No one can ever take the present away from you.   Sometimes it is hard to hold on to it.  But you can.

Merry Christmas, Oblivions.   It's a pleasure to come here and see your updates.
