Not to mention the culture shock factor.  It is real.

When I was in SoCal this month I noticed something that I hadn't before: I am inherently Californian.  I feel a kinship with most everyone when I am there.  We speak the same language.  It's hard to explain, but I felt it really strongly this last visit.

I've always sort of felt like an alien, but less so when I'm home in SoCal.  Much less so.
