Christ fulfilled the law and kept the law for all who will believe.

Romans 8:3-4

For what the Law could not do, weak as it was through the flesh, God did: sending His own Son in the likeness of sinful flesh and as an offering for sin, He condemned sin in the flesh, so that the requirement of the Law might be fulfilled in us, who do not walk according to the flesh but according to the Spirit. For those who are according to the flesh set their minds on the things of the flesh, but those who are according to the Spirit, the things of the Spirit.
As for who is a sheep and who is a goat, God knows but I will not until this life is over. He says let the wheat grow with the tares until the time of harvest (same things as goats and sheep). Matt: 13:24-30. He also said He prays for the sheep and that he prays " not for the world, but for them which thou hast given me; for they are thine." John 17. As for the old testament being done away with, all of the Book is in effect, Christ said to the Apostles after His resurrection "O fools, and slow of heart to believe all that the prophets have spoken: ought not Christ to have suffered these things, and to enter into his glory? And beginning at Moses and all the prophets, He expounded unto them in all the scriptures the things concerning Himself (Luke 24:25-27). Paul and Stephen referred to the old testament again and again after Christ resurrection. It is all the word of God and all true both yesterday and today.

As for hope for salvation, it is there for all who look to Christ as the sole cause thereof, and to none who look to themselves like the self-reighteous pharisees. There is also hope that he might give repentance unto them, telling those he has given repentance and faith to be... "in meekness instructing those that oppose themselves; if God peradventure will give them repentance to the acknowledging of the truth". Not in their supposed free will, because we are all slaves to sin and spiritually blind by nature, but in Christ who gives sight to the blind and frees those that are bound in their sins. Romans 9. The proud will not recieve this. Those God humbles will.

1: Paul, an apostle of Jesus Christ by the will of God, to the saints which are at Ephesus, and to the faithful in Christ Jesus:
2: Grace be to you, and peace, from God our Father, and from the Lord Jesus Christ.
3: Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who hath blessed us with all spiritual blessings in heavenly places in Christ:
4: According as he hath chosen us in him before the foundation of the world, that we should be holy and without blame before him in love:
5: Having predestinated us unto the adoption of children by Jesus Christ to himself, according to the good pleasure of his will,
6: To the praise of the glory of his grace, wherein he hath made us accepted in the beloved.
7: In whom we have redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of sins, according to the riches of his grace;
8: Wherein he hath abounded toward us in all wisdom and prudence;
9: Having made known unto us the mystery of his will, according to his good pleasure which he hath purposed in himself:
10: That in the dispensation of the fullness of times he might gather together in one all things in Christ, both which are in heaven, and which are on earth; even in him:
11: In whom also we have obtained an inheritance, being predestinated according to the purpose of him who worketh all things after the counsel of his own will:
12: That we should be to the praise of his glory, who first trusted in Christ.
Ephesians 1:1-12.

1: And you hath he quickened, who were dead in trespasses and sins;
2: Wherein in time past ye walked according to the course of this world, according to the prince of the power of the air, the spirit that now worketh in the children of disobedience:
3: Among whom also we all had our conversation in times past in the lusts of our flesh, fulfilling the desires of the flesh and of the mind; and were by nature the children of wrath, even as others.
4: But God, who is rich in mercy, for his great love wherewith he loved us,
5: Even when we were dead in sins, hath quickened us together with Christ, (by grace ye are saved;)
6: And hath raised us up together, and made us sit together in heavenly places in Christ Jesus:
7: That in the ages to come he might shew the exceeding riches of his grace in his kindness toward us through Christ Jesus.
8: For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God:
9: Not of works, lest any man should boast.
10: For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus unto good works, which God hath before ordained that we should walk in them.
Ephesians 2: 1-10.

8 That is, They which are the children of the flesh, these are not the children of God: but the children of the promise are counted for the seed.
9 For this is the word of promise, At this time will I come, and Sarah shall have a son. Gen. 18.10
10 And not only this; but when Rebecca also had conceived by one, even by our father Isaac,
11 (for the children being not yet born, neither having done any good or evil, that the purpose of God according to election might stand, not of works, but of him that calleth;)
12 it was said unto her, The elder shall serve the younger. Gen. 25.23
13 As it is written, Jacob have I loved, but Esau have I hated. Mal. 1.2, 3
14 ΒΆ What shall we say then? Is there unrighteousness with God? God forbid.
15 For he saith to Moses,
I will have mercy on whom I will have mercy,
and I will have compassion on whom I will have compassion. Ex. 33.19
16 So then it is not of him that willeth, nor of him that runneth, but of God that showeth mercy.
Romans 9:8-16.

Those God humbles will look to Christ alone as the reason for salvation and rejoice knowing that left to themselves and their will they are doomed. Looking to Christ as the sole reason for salvation those humbled by God will surely find it. And, since God saves those who are dead in their sins and spiritually blind and reconciles Saul by making them Pauls and friends to those they opposed, there is hope in prayer for loved ones, as long as they draw breath, as well.
