Today's "Just For Today" reading was about asking for help and embracing humility. http://www.jftna.org/jft/index.php I'm not very advanced at either. But seriously, I need your help. Last year it was easier to plan and try to coordinate a summer gathering. There was more interest, more input, more cooperation, more participants and I had a better bottom line on my bank account. I totally understand why some of the key players will not be coming, but now, I don't know how to compensate for my shortcomings. I don't know how to do this so that it won't be a disappointment to those who are counting on improvement. I need your help. Thanks

Be more specific. Are you the "director" of this event? If so does that mean that you are responsible for transportation, accommodations, itineraries, and stuff like that? The reading is from Just For Today, but it seems to me your brain's into the future and the possible outcome of the get-together. Most addicts I personally know start struggling in recovery when they are not living in the moment, but rather in the past and/or in the future. We all have shortcomings. We do the best that we can with what we have at the moment, and leave the results up to a higher power. I doubt anyone who will be attending expects perfection. I doubt they will expect you to compensate for your shortcomings. I'd be willing to bet they accept you just as you are - the good, the bad, and the ugly! Perhaps you are experiencing unrealistic expectations of yourself?

I gotta build capital and job security. ......I might die of missing it honestly. but, I just can't on august 8th.......it's less than a month away. .....the timing is really bad for me. I can't belive it's been a year. I had the best time Ive ever had sober with you sfj.

Those who attended last year would love to see SF events again. I know for myself and my wife Jeanette, we could visit the same sites or events and be happy because we were with friends. Please remember, SFJ, it was the oppertuity, challenge, and love of learning we (at least myself) enjoyed. I need more than a short 3 day vacation to understand SF! Darrell

Just seeing you guys (even if it's a smaller group) would be just fine. San Francisco is pretty and easy. It'll sell itself. How many people are coming out who needs a place to stay? Unfortunately money is tight for me. I am saving for something I have wanted to do since I was a little girl, and going to SF is making it that much harder - but it's worth it in my opinion.

Send them to all attendees and ask them what part they can play in getting all this done and by when. It doesn't need to be all on you - does it?

Posts: 401 (07/14/08 07:40:53) Reply Quote More My Recent Posts Message Me Connection Blocking Invite Ignore User's Posts Report Post	It isn't that there is sooooo much to do - it's just that someone (wonderful) believes he needs (all by his self) to make it bigger/better than before and that each time needs to be an improvement upon the previous get together.... Sfj - whatever happens it is a group of people that would not have otherwise met if it weren't for this site and your initiating spark. It is a group of people that might not have otherwise met except we share in a common and life threatening tragedy and we are surviving (and thriving for the most part). This in itself is such a wonderful fact - and then add that over an electrical line and some weird crazy thing called the internet we have met and bonded. Enough so that we will make an effort to meet - even coming from far away and we will all be thrilled and excited to put faces and names and voices together and share coffee and some food and laughs and even a cruise around the bay. And those that have met before get the added bonus of seeing "loved" ones again. Sfj - I love you - don't worry - CAN EVERYONE who thinks they might come please PM me or Sfj so we can plan on the tickets for a Sat afternoon cruise on SF Bay. We will probably join up FRI PM and then again have a meeting place on SAT AM where we can all come together and take it from there. Any other burning desires for activities (I know - I know Dolores Park) we will also try and put on the tentative agenda..

I've got family coming up from California, and my finances are a shambles after my move up here. Having said that: J - it will be grand. It doesn't have to be more grand, it will be a different grand, with different and new people to encounter. Like Grumpy said, the logistics are fairly simple in SF. The Travelodge we stayed at was in the perfect location and we got everywhere via public transportation. People can bunk together like we all did last year. LELAX AND ENJOY! Afterall, they're all grownups. You don't have to babysit. This is as much for YOU as it is for anyone else. love9

Time to practice patiance.Dont panic on thinking some will freak on it.When it can happen will be great.If it doesnt it is happening that way for a reason.Not a problem.
