I have read where there has been a lot of discussion about the moderators lately.
I don't visit KCI as much as I used to because what I need most in my recovery now, KCI does not help me
much with and sometimes KCI affects me negatively. My form of recovery involves my faith and KCI is not the best place for my faith.
However, in the past KCI has been very helpful in other areas. Those areas include:
1 Very good information on Meth addiction
2 Good place to vent most of the time
3 Very good empathy from most members
4 Good place to get encouragement in some areas
I have had my problems with the moderator(s) and the owner in the past and that is one of the reasons that I
reduced my time at KCI. However I do have something to say about the moderators.
First, I have had most of my disagreements with Loraura. She and I see things differently on a subject that is
very important to me. However, as I have posted in the past Loraura is articulate, upfront, and has given very good information on certain aspects of
addiction. Eventhough Loraura and I have had a few spats I do not let that keep me from learning from her. I feel that Loraura is a valuable member of KCI.
Secondly, Theresa stood up for me (against the majority) on an issue that is very important to me and I will always appreciate her boldness. Theresa is a fair-minded person and furthermore I do not blame her one bit for reducing her time as a moderator and postings on the Internet. She has a very good reason for that. T is cool beans!
Thirdly. Penelope is a very gifted person. I no longer read a lot of KCI posts but I always read hers and a few others; I just love her posts. She recently
posted a thread titled "Living in the Solution". I think that post is indicative of how valuable Pen's posts are. She explains how to live in the
SOLUTION rather than wallowing in the problem. I was very surprised that her post did not get a lot more responses. I think that Pen's attitude and outlook
is outstanding and she is so willing to share her life with us. Pen also has a burning compassion to help addicts, loved ones of addicts, and those that most
of society do not care for. I couldn't dislike my Irish buddy Pen even if I wanted to; I am always impressed with mi amiga Penelope.
Last but not least is TenderheartsKS, my good buddy Devon. I so admire Devon as she has been in recovery for
over 17 years and has done so under great stress and hard times. Additionally, she is a loved one of an addict (her child) and that makes her special to me.
IMO, if you want to know how to make it in recovery or as a loved one of an addict go to someone who has been successful for many years such as TenderheartsKS.
Also, have you read her posts? If you have you know she blows no smoke up your____ and will tell you like it is, her posts are very good. One of the great
helps that Tender has given me is that she is grateful to God even though she has been through hell! DeVon gives me strength and hope.
Do I think they have made mistakes? YES
Do I still think that as a team they are the best moderators I have seen in my 4 years at KCI? YES!!!
Yours truly,
