FWIW, this issue is something that is being addressed among the moderators (There are four now, TenderheartsKS has been added to the moderator team) and I think that is something that people do need to be aware of.
I will probably get scolded for this post - I'm OK with that. I posting this as me - myself - Penelope. Yes, I am one of the mods, but I also see myself as a member of this community, even if others do not.
For every issue there is a resolution, and for every resolution, there can be cooperation between all parties - mods and members.
I do want to reiterate that there are five people banned at this time (Spammers not included.) Of these, one is someone that the community requested be banned - a troll if you will. Another ban is to be lifted soon. Most bans are temporary, and very few people have been banned from this forum.
I do want people to know that you are all being heard.
I also want to say that the goal, making KCI a place where people can come and interact with each other in a civil manner, is what those guidelines are about. Clearly there are issues about the manner in which these guidelines are being enforced. Being solution focused in this matter will be most productive - I realize that there will be criticism whether I think that is helpful or not - but moving towards a solution might be better achieved if we approach this without bringing specific personalities into play. My opinion, which is just that, an opinion. That being said, I understand that personalities will likely continue to be a part of this discussion, and none of that is up to me.
Whatever the resolution, I believe it can be reached in a manner that doesn't require any of us to be nasty to one another - we can start now if we choose to do so - or we can choose not to. That is a community decision.
I strongly believe there can be a dialogue that doesn't include any commentary on personalities, and that "issues" can be the focus.
That's just my honest opinion on this topic - doesn't mean it's going to go anywhere - but I do hope it can be discussed in a civil manner. I am 100% certain that I can participate in this discussion without being nasty; being one of the individuals under scrutiny here, I am open to criticism and can deal with that without being caustic. Of that I am sure.
OK - that's my contribution for now. As a member - not as a moderator - I encourage people to continue this discussion.
