Lori- I struggle - I love to eat too and it is in so many ways a more difficult problem than say booze was for me because you cannot avoid food, so it is daily
vigilance. One year as a treat for my birthday - I requested no cake - so a friend got me something she knew I loved - I had smoked salmon as a treat with a
candle shoved in it - it was awesome and I enjoyed it all the more knowing I had made a healthier choice. Protein, raw fruits and veggies - I have to avoid
bread and cheese the most - and pizza is like my most favorite thing in the world! Sugary treats too - I haven't had a donut in eons.
Congratulations on taking care of yourself on your birthday and for letting us know you better. |

Oh, and regarding addicts looking at days of special importance, Memorial Day (which is coming up) is a really hard day for me not to use drugs or drink, as is the other warm weather holiday the 4th of July. Does anybuddy else have a harder time abstaining during summer holidays? I wonder. I think any day that NORMIES go all out and party-hardy are rough on those who have come to a decision that although they would LOVE to party, they can no longer do it successfully. |

I like them, I think they are hilarious =)
We have a dog, 2 cats, and 2 ferrets at our house. We see a lot of "fails" on a daily basis! |

...one thing about your addiction that is different than mine...
I can avoid "Slippery people, slippery places." You can't - you gotta eat! I admire your courage, Lo. Addiction is addiction - but I think your is a bit tougher to address - you are constantly surrounded by your "Drug of Choice." Pickle. |

Loraura wrote: Strangely, I think part of it for me is the weather. I think it goes back to being a kid and having the summers off school; summer is supposed to be a time of freedom? New Years, on the other hand, isn't a trigger for me at all. |
