I look forward to reading your posts, sometimes I laugh, sometimes I cry. I think I'll keep in mind your translations instead of his mean words. Makes much more sense. And Pen thank you so much, it does help just to be reminded how meth affects your thinking. I have used myself, but I don't remember much of the feelings. It just helps so much to get other peoples input on how they were affected or what they have experienced. Sometimes I tend to over analyze a situation until it becomes unrecognizable. I am so very thankful for this sight, and every single person here. HUGS and PRAYERS for us all.

Posts: 1405 (05/08/08 10:15:30) Moderator Reply Quote More My Recent Posts Message Me Connection Blocking Invite Ignore User's Posts Report Post	Can a hard core addict (slammer/smoker 10+ years) end up with 18 month clean (thanks to the courts) and then go back out and only use occasionally and be a functioning addict. If you believe that, I have a lovely piece of real estate I'll sell you in Florida! He may have a brief period where it 'appears' he has control over his using, but I can guarantee at some point it will rapidly escalate to where he was before, and worse. I've seen it happen time and time again over the past 21 years. Could his reasons for leaving really have nothing to do with meth? Could his reason for not being active in his children's lives have nothing to do with meth? Could this all really only have to do with his hate and unfounded anger towards me? His actions/attitudes have nothing to do with you or your children, and everything to do with him. He hates himself, and that is the bottom line. He wants you to think the anger and hate is yours to own, but it's his self-hatred and anger with himself that he's projecting on to you. Believe me, deep down inside, his opinion of himself is far worse than anyone else could think about him.

You are all right, I know the truths of the matter. I need to focus on me and my girls and let him own his anger. It's easier to hate and blame me than himself or his addiction. This sight always serves me that much needed slap in the face, that says wake up, what the HE$$ are you thinking.

I don't know about you but it's also been easier for ME to blame ME rather than his addiction. Due to my codependent/low self esteem issues. And, he was more than happy to oblige me --- you know -- makes it "my fault" instead of his drug addiction.

I have to say that I never really seen this side of my addict. But I have been told that I was the classic enabler. I guess he didnt have to get mad and violent when I did everything he wanted. He did start to get angry there in the end before he went to jail, because he just couldn't seem to believe that I was putting my foot down about certain things. So there is no telling what could have been had it went on any longer........ jg
