I'm actually quite grateful to a lot of people who aren't a part of this board, and I am going to say something about them, too.
I am grateful for the people who had the balls to tell me what I needed to hear, not what I wanted to hear. I am so grateful for those who stood by me when I was out there, refusing to listen, refusing to do what was suggested, begging for help, and then refusing the help that was offered (because I wanted people to do this FOR me, not WITH me.) I am so grateful that even though I told all of those people I was going to do this "My way," that I knew what was good for me, and even though I repeatedly fell on my face the entire time I put up that wall of resistance to change - they stayed with me, put up with my shyt, and loved me anyway. Thank GOD for those people. They saved my life by showing me that I could get clean and make a better life for myself - and letting me know that they could SHOW me how to do it, but I would have to do the work MYSELF. I finally took the cotton out of my ears, stuck it in my mouth, started to listen, and what do you know. Here it is more than four years later, life is good, I am happy, and I don't spend my life chasing the bag anymore - I am chasing life today. I come here to share what was shared with me - and I got nothing to whine about, except that I need to have my cars worked on, and it would be nice if my son would get a good job. There are plenty of people here at KCI who taught me a lot too - about how you can talk to someone all day long about recovery - but if they don't want it, they won't get it. If that day comes for ANY of those people, we'll still be here, waiting - because that is what all of these people are about - some are looking for help, and some are looking to help. And sometimes you are going to hear things you don't want to hear - I just did a few weeks ago. A member here advised me that I was doing something that wasn't OK - a copyright infringement - and I didn't want to hear that - but she was right, and I took her suggestion and changed what I was doing. I am glad she made the suggestion. Being right isn't as important as doing the right thing. Doing the right thing, putting one foot in front of the other, getting through each day without my old crutch - a bag of dope - it's all been worth it to me. To those who are here with the sincere desire to help the rest - you have my respect. To the rest, you have my patience, and my ear when you are ready. if you're not, that's OK too. |

Charlie is good at showing what meth addiction does to people.Probably any of us who come to this board could serves as living examples of what meth addiction does to people- whether we are current users, addicts in recovery or loved ones- we've all been affected and our behavior demonstrates that. I really don't think any of us can point fingers at anyone else. I am the mother of an addict, and there were times when my anxiety over my son made me behave very irrationally. Some nights I wouldn't sleep, then I would crash and retreat into over-sleeping, often I could barely eat, I went through wild mood swings- anger, self-pity, paranoia- not all that different from how my son behaved. We're all damaged somehow, but I see a lot of courage and love here on this board. Also, unfortunately, see a lot of bitterness and personal attacks at times. Anyway, I sorry to see the Good Say Day thread degenerate. |

I have learned the most about myself and the underlying issues behind my addiction with Leprechaun's help.
I am grateful for the time he took to answer my questions. He has a way about him that causes me to accept responsibility. It was very enlightening to witness him in chat the way he can take a person to the exact nature of their reality. Best of all my own. When I didnt have a sponsor he helped me along the way to get one suitable for me. I will always cherish his help. I would like to mention my best girlfriend I used to use with whom I love very much...she introduced me to this site. God willing she will get clean someday. Hopefully sooner than later. She is a beautiful person...and funny as all get out. And Patchouliana...Pisces I love the way she makes me feel. She is so creative and brave. Peace, Missybuns |

I like the fact that Charliexoxo keeps hanging in there, even though it's really tough this stage of the game.
In a lot of ways she reminds me of Imgetinrite. I does get better Charlie

Sarah from GA showed me real strength. I can't believe she stays so sweet. She also helped to humble me because I was totally wrong about her. I guess I am
a dumbo.

Jamie is another big surprise to me on kci. I followed her story on here from before or when she got pregnant. I didn't think she was going to grasp to
recovery the way she did. I think maybe I just don't understand women and the motherly thing that goes on because i keep getting surprised. Anyways,
I'm real proud of her.
