Posts: 7403 (04/29/08 11:10:07) Forum Star Reply Quote More My Recent Posts Message Me Connection Blocking Invite Ignore User's Posts Report Post	Give information to the police if you thought you knew for almost positive that a person in a crime surveillance video was someone you knew and loved and you knew they were addicted to meth and knew that they were in the area where the crime was committed and knew that they had in the past showed signs of committting those types of "meth crimes" and had in fact committed crimes against you and your family.....? Would you give the info you had to the cops? Would you stay anonymous so that you couldn't be labeled a snitch by the meth crowed? Would you share what you did with your spouse who might get mad? This question IS NOT FOR ME, it's for someone who just needs some help figuring out what's best to do. Thank you luv

IMO the cops are nearly worthless without help from the society they're trying to serve and protect.

And if I did tell them I would only tell them what I knew for a fact.

I have a book called This Moral Compass ....or maybe that's the band... anyway, I have a book about Morals and it has just about every written word ever about morals and rights and responsibilities and really, most of the writing from all the wise ones of the world and our own country's founders all point to if crime is committed, and you know something, in the end it points to the best way is to step forward with honesty and fact. The laws are in place to be checks and balances and I know that my addict x had many suggestions that he marry me so I couldn't testify against him one day. Unfortunately he was getting advice from his fellow meth crime cohorts-even the chickies So, I think that regarding flagrant meth crimes like identity theft, burglary, metal theft, returning to WalMart,and drug dealing seem to be crimes for no reason other than to continue meth addiction so I'm all for turnin em in and staying anonymous and remembering that even if the person actually goes to court for the crime, I probably wouldn't ever have to testify because I was an anonymous tipster. Loved ones of meth addicts, more than anyone, seem to get really hung up on what to do when it comes to crimes the addict is committing. I think it's part of the whole nasty dis-ease. I'm so thankful that I don't have any actively using addicts in my life right now and won't be inviting any in in the future..... and when it's a relative usually you can't testify against them anyway...unless it's murder or something so tipping off the keystone cops is a pretty miniscule thing to do. I'm sure that all of these responses is helping my friend make the very hard decision. luv

I would'nt do anything I felt I had to hide from my spouse, you're supposed to be on the same team.... .....and the truth always comes out. I would'mt let him find out from a pissed of tweaker.

Because it was the store you worked at and you cared about the people who were robbed and your paycheck might not come for a while because the people had to figure out the insurance crap for crime..... would you then do it if it were a loved one like a relative? just wondering... these are the questions that go through my head on this kinda thing I mean of course no one wants to be labeled a snitch because snitches end up in ditches luv

If I saw a video of someone stealing my neighbors mailbox, I don't think (thank God I don't get paid to think), I would turn them in if I knew them. Even it it was my own mailbox. On the other hand, if I saw a video of someone holding a gun to a clerks head in a store robbery, and I knew them... HELL, yes I would notify the authorities. I would consider the circumstances of the incidence, think about it, and ask God to help me make the RIGHT choice. JMHO... Keep On Truckin' Lady

I don't really care what the "meth crowd" thinks of me... ...so that's a none issue for me. I would do it anonymously to protect my family and myself...like you said snitches are found in ditches. (remember I'm talking armed robbery in my hypo). I would tell me husband... ...I have to tell him things about my daughter (and he gets plenty mad)! I wish I didn't have to, but he deserves to know. Plus we trust each other when there's no one else there for us, and we help each other when times are tough. If my sisters tells me something and ask me to tell NO one, I don't tell my husband. Lady, if it's on tv, it's usually enough of a crime to be a big problem...no, it wasn't violent like the one I saw where I saw someone I thought I knew who it was-armed robbery but it was a meth crime and it affected many people and involves major misery for people who will be trying to recover from the crime for years-financially I mean. Can't say anymore-not safe ya know. luv
