I watched a show on TRU tv channel(court tv) on jail in Hillsboro, OR. It's a suburb of Portland. I guess it interests me because I have a heart for meth addicts in jail right now....and I've been writing a letter to my presidential candidate about fair pay for incarcerated workers. Anyway, this was a pretty good show that showed the workings of the jail from booking to release and in between.

3 meth addicts were shown...one guy who had cuts and scars all over him....he was in jail a year before and stayed clean for 6 weeks then was back on and back in jail. He was pretty disappointed in himself.

A 35ish mother of 2 said right out that she had anger issues and self medicated with iv meth. She had shot up a few hours before being arrested. She was in jail, not for meth, but for fighting with her x husband with the kids in the car. She had been in prison before.

Then a kid(well, a young man) who had 3 previous visits to the jail and one officer was actually kind enough to pull his last three mug shots and show him the progression of his drug use. It was the faces of meth. She asked him how much weight he thought he had lost and if he saw how much he had changed.....he didn't say much.

I think about my addict x sitting in jail all the time, less than before, but still everyday. I wonder how it has been for him kickin it in jail....with little support. He has NA & AA meetings he can go to almost everyday if he works at it. I wonder if he is still dealin in jail....you know, just playin the deal maker with imaginary stuff...

Will he be humbled or hardened? That is the question.

That TRU tv jail show is actually pretty interesting and it's not sensationalist and it's in my area too.
