Hi All,

A thought that I have been pondering, (as one who has many loved ones who are addicts to the meth monster, but have grown really far beyond my anger, pain and
frustration at their behavior during active addiction,) is: Of course, there is that "first choice" to take, try or expose oneself to meth, (unless
exposed by another in-utero or by force,) but once that first hit of dopamine takes one into the furthest reach of "uphoria," is it really a
"choice"...

I thought about this question for a few days.

Ultimately, we do have a choice. With everything we do. But under some circumstances, we sometimes make choices that we wouldn't make in other
cicumstances.

For example, I am a non-violent person by nature. I can't stand hurting even an ant, let alone a person. If I had a child, and someone was trying to harm
him/her... I cannot say that I could make a non-violent choice against a person attempting to harm my child....

Good question.

My ex has always said that it's all in your mind. He could quit if he wanted to. Could he? It sure doesn't seem that way to me. I understand that
it's clearly a "choice" when you snort that first and next line, but, I've always wondered too - if once you're addicted is it a choice?

My ex has been in and out of jail. As of 6 months ago, went from seeing his kids every single day to not seeing them for weeks at a time. He is...

It's always a choice. However the power needed to make one choice over another may not be there.

A decision that is not immediately followed by action, is only a thought.

Thinking about staying sober sometimes isn't enough to actually stay sober. Staying sober requires action.

Choosing discomfort over numbness, anxiety over euphoria, these are tough choices and sometimes the power needed to make those choices simply isn't there.
I believe this is...

One time my husband and I were sitting at home. His parents came over to play with the baby. He was sullen and distant. Wouldn't talk to any of us. This
