In CA there is a diversion program, Prop 32 they call it. You go to the program or go to jail. I believe it's only for first time offenders. They have to
pay for the classes. It helps some

and others think it's a joke (haha I didn't have to go to jail). If only a few get the help they need to stop then I'm all for it.

Yes, I agree that alcohol is a drug and the term "dui" is just driving under the influence of anything but this law I guess is more about the
interlock devices....MADD is for it because they think the interlock devices keep people from reoffending....yeah right. I'm not believin it. I like the
Snohomish County DUI guy who thinks it's a silly drop in the bucket in fighting addiction. I think he's one of the people who IS fighting for more
money for treatment. Granted...

I saw that on the news this morning when I was at the hospital with my son. He had a high fever but turned out to be okay. I agree with you. It's not
addressing the real issue--the addiction. I have met several people with those breathilizer things installed in their cars and they have their CHILDREN blow in
them because the car won't start if you breath into it with any alcohol on your breath. One women drank so much she would be drunk when she woke up in the
morning and she would...

Ok, the law that is coming up to be voted on IS by the governor and It Is Not advocating treatment, it is actually giving an out to people who might have
gotten a dui but aren't addicts/alcoholics. Somehow some panel will decide if the person is or is not an alcoholic/addict and if they aren't they can
apply for diversion and get an Interlok device for 6 months or something. A DUI taskforce manager is Against this law because he says that it doesn't do
anything for getting...
