Ever since I stopped using meth (And getting high on anything else,) I have had SERIOUS problems with chronic pain.

I have had this problem since I stopped, at that time I believed that this would pass in time, and so far, that hasn't been the case at all.

For the first two years of my recovery, I just tolerated it and assumed that it was normal, I used for a very long time, and I knew that the recovery (Mental,
Emotional, and Physical) from long term meth use was going to take time....

it may seem, it's never as bad as what it would be in the long run if you were still out there! You gotta know that's the God's honest truth,
right? I mean, come on. Where was that shyt taking you and your life?...

I hope, for you, that you will stay the course and decide to stay clean. Everything in my life is SO much better - yep - I have a lot of physical
pain, but I'll take that any day over the life I was living before, back when I was using.

I haven't gotten loaded for more than four years. Early recovery is much harder than having four years clean, I promise you - you get through...

I too suffer from chronic pain, but did throughout my using years as well. But it seems to have worsened in some places (shoulders & knees) and stayed the
same in others (neck & back) since I got clean. I always attributed it to my unfortunate aging & the physical abuse I put myself thru in my youth (dirt...

seriously...I love you hookah. I am sorry to read of your pain... Numbing for years you did and now when we clean up...the pain surfaces like a slap of
clarity. I hope you find some comfort from it. I hate pain. It is a trigger for me. I believe I heard somewhere that drug addicts dont have a high tolerance
for pain, that when we use it messes up the brain chemically somehow...not sure of techinical terms...do you know if this is true anyone?

Hi wild Pen,

I'm sorry you are still in pain, that blows. I had reactive arthritis and it was hell on earth. I couldn't do anything (and I tried)!

I wouldn't think that the pain is from the result of meth use/meth using lifestyle. It's been too long.

That is my non-doctor opinion. Are you open to the idea of taking pain meds if it turns out that is the ONLY option to stop the pain? Has your doctor sent you
to pain management?

Penelope,

It sounds like Fibromyalgia. I have it, it sucks. Pain all the time, wake up feeling like you did a major workout and your muscles are tired and sore. My
doctor has prescribed Nortriptyline for me, I take one in the morn and one at night, it works with the chemicals in the brain to help your body manage pain. I
dont get any sort of "high" from it, dont feel it at all, but my body overall feels better.

When my daughter was one (she's seven now)...

I sympathize with you Pen. My mom is in chronic pain from back injuries.

Myself I have just suffered the effects of a bad diet all these years. I gained some weight when I quit using (which is normal), and now my cholesterol is back
up. When I was using it was normal, go figure! I wasn't overweight then though. I do not like most green veggies, and was raised on southern cooking, so
you can imagine how my eating habits are.

Getting older definatlely has it's...
